The YHA

The YHA is a charity that runs 150 sites in England and Wales.

Established in 1930, the charity was born with a determination to improve the lives and prospects of young people living in crowded, polluted cities, and lacking adventure and fresh air.

Its mission: To enrich the lives of all, especially young people, by providing brilliant hostel stays and experiences that improve physical health, mental well-being and life skills.

Last year, 900,000 people stayed, using the YHA as an affordable place to use as their base for outdoor activities. 400,000 of them were young people who stayed with a group from school, their families or other groups.

Over 100,000 young people were part of YHA-led outdoor pursuits and over 500 families, struggling to find a way to spend some time together outdoors, were helped by the YHA with a supported break.

YHA Camping

The YHA has over 40 campsites in England and Wales. When you pitch your tent, you have a place to park You also have 24-hour access to the hostel’s facilities, including toilets, the bar, the kitchen for cooking your evening meal and breakfast, and a drying room for clothes and boots.

For the price, and the facilities available, you can’t beat it. We’ve stayed quite a few times with the family. The sites are conveniently located so you can get out in the countryside or mountains and have some great days out.
